ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY
ABLEDATA — "Your Source for Assistive Technology Information"
Adaptive Environments is a 25 year old educational non-profit organization committed to advancing the role of design in expanding opportunity and enhancing experience for people of all ages and abilities. This site promotes Universal Design, a framework for the design of places, things and information to be usable by the widest range of people operating in the widest range of situations without special or separate design, has a page of useful links for accessible information technology, and a list of ADA resources.

CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES
Family Institute for Creative Well-Being (www.familyinstitute-cwb.org) supports families in managing the everyday challenges of disability or chronic illness through therapeutic use of the creative arts.
Optimistic Outcomes (www.optimisticoutcomes.com) is dedicated to helping parents and caregivers build an optimistic outcome for the children they love. The information is particularly helpful to parents dealing with learning differences as they teach their children the skills to navigate homework, schoolwork, and communication.
Pathways Center: IPSII, Inc. is a nonprofit organization comprised of people with disabilities and their families. Under a youth leadership grant from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, IPSII, Inc. offers a leadership training program for young African American youth to increase their opportunities for employment. An online youth center, "Pathways Center," explains the program and provides links to other information and resources of interest to young adults with developmental disabilities.

The Full Life Ahead Foundation provides assistance, support, and training for parents of children with developmental disabilities with a focus on transition planning for their sons and daughters as they become more independent and move into adult life.

The National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues for families, educators, and other professionals. Their special focus is children and youth (birth to age 22). "If you have children with disabilities and don't know where to turn for assistance, make this your first stop."
The Research & Training Center on Family Support and Children's Mental Health & The Center's research and training activities focus on improving services to children and youth who have mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders and their families.

The mission of the Access Center for Independent Living (ACIL) is to ensure that people with disabilities have full and complete access to the community in which they reside.
American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) is the largest national nonprofit cross-disability member organization in the United States, dedicated to ensuring economic self-sufficiency and political empowerment for the more than 56 million Americans with disabilities.
Arc Minnesota — Advocacy and support for people with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Arc of the United States — The national organization of and for people with mental retardation and related disabilities and their families.
The Community Imperative — In 1979, the Center on Human Policy at Syracuse University wrote The Community Imperative, a declaration supporting the right of all people with disabilities to community living. The Center has reissued The Community Imperative in 2000 and invites endorsements from individuals and organizations.
Mothers From Hell 2 is a "national group of parents, relatives, friends, and anyone who just plain 'gets it' fighting chipped tooth and broken press-on nail for the appropriate education, community acceptance, desperately needed services, rights of and entitlements for individuals with disabilities."
