NEW YORK, NEW
YORK--Last Wednesday morning, Jose Stable called 911 to report that his
12-year-old son Ulysses had been killed in their Bronx apartment.
Police responding to the call found the body of the boy, who had autism,
naked in the bathtub -- his throat slashed. They also found a bucket full of
bloody water in the bathroom, and bloody knives in the kitchen.
The suspected killer?
His father.
"I've terminated the life of my autistic child," Mr. Stable allegedly
told the officers.
According to the New York Times, police arrested the 50-year-old father
and charged him with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and criminal
possession of a weapon.
Investigators later learned that in recent years Stable has been
arrested several times -- once for assault -- and had been accused of
neglecting his son.
A neighbor, who said she had witnessed interactions between Stable and
his son, told reporters that she could sense the anger in the man.
