Community Effort Creates Accessible Homes
October 2,
2006
GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN--Monday's Green Bay Press-Gazette reported on
how a community is coming together to build a series of barrier-free homes to
help local people with physical disabilities to be more independent.
Fifty-two partners have joined forces to build the accessible homes,
including a church, a construction firm, architects, the city of Green Bay, a
community foundation, and dozens of donors.
"They've given me back my independence," said Debbie Ostrowski, who has
muscular dystrophy and will be moving with her son into a home that will be
completed in December.
