Interest in developmental disabilities

Sherri has 22 years of experience in services to persons with ID/DD as a behavior analyst, program evaluator, consultant, personal advocate and researcher. She has been a personal advocate for a man with intellectual disabilities since 1997.

Experience in developmental disabilities

Sherri is the Research Director and a Principal Investigator at the Research and Training Center on Community Living (Institute on Community Integration, U of MN) where she has worked for the last 15 years, directing projects involving survey and intervention research, secondary analysis of large data sets and research synthesis on residential services, personnel issues, disability statistics and community integration for persons with ID/DD and has (co)authored 78 publications on those topics.

She has made over 100 presentations at national, state, regional and local conferences and workshops. She is an AAMR Fellow, President-Elect of the national AAMR Community Services Division, a consulting editor of Mental Retardation and Journal of Intellectual and Developmental Disability and has participated in NIDRR and CDC grant review panels.

She received a Presidential Award from AAMR for workforce research. She served six years on the Ramsey County Board's Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee (3 years as Chair), and six years on the advisory board of an ICF-MR. She also serves on the Board of Directors of No Place Like Home Communities, a provider of supportive housing for adults with disabilities.
